COLONIE – Louis T. Piazza, 80, lost his short but brave battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He joins his beloved wife, Mary Rose Piazza who passed away on October 21, 1992. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Louis and Josephine Piazza. Lou was a lifelong Albany area resident. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Piazza worked for Union Local #190 and retired from the New York State Dept. of Labor. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and also enjoyed bowling and gardening. Lou is the devoted father of Thomas (Tracey) Piazza of Guilderland, Louis (Barbara) Piazza of Colonie, Angela (Wayne) Stammel of Altamont, Joseph (Denise) Piazza of Schenectady and Michael (Annie) Piazza of Scotia. He is the cherished grandfather of Jamy, Chris, Nick, Vinnie, Tony, Danielle, Nicole, Renee, Mary and Joey. Lou is the brother-in-law of Thomas LoPresti, Rose Leyden and the late Anthony "Babe" LoPresti. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews; Tony, Matt, Elizabeth, Bob and Erin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 9:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Clare, Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Louis T. Piazza.
