Louise B. Splatt

June 23, 1913 — July 16, 2015

Louise B. Splatt, passed away on July 16, 2015. She was born 102 years ago in E. Pittstown, NY, to the late Walter F. and Florence Q. Bartling. She graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and went to work as a secretary at the Rice Seed Company in Cambridge NY. There she met her future husband Everett E. Splatt, from Albany, who was employed as a printer at Rice's.

Louise was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker who was married for 60 years to Everett when he passed away in 2000. Her kitchen talents were showcased in her wonderful apple pies. She also enjoyed growing dozens of beautiful African Violets, many of which she raised from seed. She later worked for the New York State Retirement system for 10 years.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Eva Gates, Helen Eddy and Lois Haner, her brother Walter M. Bartling and several nieces.

Louise is survived by her daughters, Shirley L. Splatt of West Sand Lake and Linda (Greg) Gersch of Castleton-on-Hudson, and a niece and 2 nephews.

We would like to thank Peter and Ginny Ludder, owners of Ludder's Country Home in West Sand Lake where she lived for the past 2 years, and all of their staff for the loving care they gave Louise, and also thank the Rensselaer County Hospice for all of their care and concern.

If desired, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, 965 Albany Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110 or to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in Louise's memory.

A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at Prospect Hill Cemetery Guilderland.
