Louise M. Draisey
July 9, 1929 — August 18, 2023
GUILDERLAND - Louise M. Draisey, 94, passed away after a long illness on Friday, August 18, 2023. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Marcella and Michael DeMare. Louise is predeceased by her husband, Walter N. Draisey, siblings Catherine Authier, Eugenia Miele, Marcella Cross, Salvatore, Nicholas and Michael DeMare.
Louise loved being with her children and grandchildren, in addition to her many friends. Louise was a social butterfly. She always said hello and smiled at everyone she met and made them feel comfortable and loved. She also enjoyed her plants and gardening, taking car rides with Dad, crocheting, bingo and we cannot forget her infamous number "44". She was a great cook and baker. Growing up the kids always had a homemade desert after dinner. She made cakes from scratch and let the kids lick the spoon. Louise also canned tomato sauce and her famous bread and butter pickles for all.
Louise retired from the NY State Tax and Finance Office in Albany as a file clerk. She made many lifelong friends there.
She was always there for her kids. Whether it was last minute babysitting for a grandchild or just a listening ear. She was the best Mom ever and the kids told her that every chance they got.
Louise is survived by her children Christine Keith (Ray), Steve (Bonnie), Anna Draisey-Curtis (Jim Curtis) and Theresa. She was the loving Grandma to Bryan, Denise, Jennifer, Kyle and Jamie and great grandchildren, Bryce and Dylan. In addition she is also survived by several, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Avenue, Guilderland, followed by committal services at 12:30 pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
