ALBANY
Mabin, Louise A. (Apostol), 74, passed away and left this earth to go into the arms of her beloved husband, Stephen M. Mabin on October 12, 2022. Louise was born in Niskayuna and raised in Albany, NY. She graduated from Albany High School in 1966. Louise had a very successful 37 1/2 year career with the NYS Department of Civil Service, where she began as Stenographer and rose to the ranks of Supervisor of Exams Control. A year following her retirement, Civil Service called upon Louise for her knowledge and expertise in the examination process and she returned to assist for two years; retired again and returned one more time, for a short period of time until she was sought out by a longtime friend and co-worker and began working as an executive assistant and member services representative for the retired public employees association beginning in October 2007.
Before her beloved husband passed away in 2006, they enjoyed spending time in their Adirondack summer home.
Throughout her life she was blessed with many loved ones, family and friends. Louise loved her family immensely, in particular her son Michael, the light her life, and his two beautiful daughters Madison and Mariah, "Grandma's girls" Louise loved and enjoyed being with family and her "special friends".
Louise is predeceased by her parents Louis and Elnor Apostol; husband Stephen; her sisters Dhimitra (Thomaq-dec'd) Kita; Janet (Harry-dec'd) Baloglou and Alexandra (Robert-dec'd) Lemoine
Louise leaves behind her dearly devoted and cherished son Michael Mabin (Mae); precious and loving granddaughters Madison Rose and Mariah Lynn Mabin (Guilderland); her beloved brother Paul (Vera) Apostol. and many nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Services will be held in the NewComer Cremations & Funerals Chapel located at 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205 between Central Avenue and Washington Avenue Extension.
calling hours Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022 3-6 pm; Trisagion Service at 6:00 pm, Mass on Friday, Oct 21, 2022, 10:00 am at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church 440 Whitehall Rd., Albany, NY 12208, interment at Memory Garden Cemetery 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Albany, NY. The family will like to extend a welcome back to St. Sophia GOC for a Makaria.
