Lovely Moselle Belgiano, born on July 4th, 1925, passed to eternity surrounded by her loving family at the age of 88 on February 14th, 2014. She was born on Independence Day and passed on Valentine's Day, which speaks to the nature of our mother's character. She was a woman of strong beliefs, virtue and unconditional love.
Born as one of fourteen children in Big Stone Gap, West Virginia to Emmett and Pearl Fletcher, Lovely moved to Colonie in 1951 with her beloved late husband, Mindy Neil Belgiano, to raise their three children.
Lovely met her husband Mindy, while spending time during World War II as a true "Rosie the Riveter", working for the Vought Company in production of the F4U Corsair fighter planes for the U.S. Marines. Upon moving to Colonie, she found joy in gardening and growing flowers – while her greatest passion was her children and grandchildren. In her later years, she moved with her daughter to Johnstown, NY.
Survivors are her son Neil James, and daughter, Darcy Ann. Lovely was predeceased by her husband, Mindy, and her son and daughter-in-law Bruce Wayne and Christine Houck . She leaves 6 grandchildren – Victoria, Kayla, Micah, Kara, Justin, and Lisa - as well as 9 great grandchildren.
Lovely's family celebrates her life well-lived. Full of love for her family and an immense sense of humor that filled their time with laughter; Lovely had a gift in hospitality and treasured making wonderful meals for the family and friends to gather around, share stories, and laugh together. She will be deeply missed and remembered always.
Calling Hours for Lovely will be Monday February 17th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Burial will be at Memory Gardens, Tuesday February 18th at 2 p.m.
