GLENVILLE – Lucienne Bortell passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the age of 102. Born in Montreál, Canada on June 21, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Leonise Robitaille.
Lucienne married the love of her life, the late Edward Bortell, and started a family in Albany. A seamstress for Cutrul and Lenards for 20 years, she made gowns for judges in the High Courts. After retirement, Lucienne was most happy working in her yard, whether it was shoveling snow, mowing the lawn of keeping up with her extraordinary flowers.
Lucienne is survived by her son Ronald and his wife Kathleen Bortell of Glenville; daughter Bernice Nataro of CT; grandchildren Lucette and Cheryl Bortell, Andrian and Tina Notaro, and Nicole (Notaro) and Christopher Panzella; great-grandchildren Olivia and Samantha Panzella, and Kaleb Newman.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to friends Joanne and Nick Bauer, and are most appreciative of Rachel Winters and the staff at the Church of Immaculate Conception in Glenville.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 9:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302 in Lucienne's name.
