COLONIE – Lucy DeMizio Pizzemento, 78, of Colonie, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday January12, 2009 after a long illness.
She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Frank and Diamante Damiano DeMizio. Lucy had attended Albany High School. She worked in various part time positions while her children were in school. Lucy then worked at Philip Schuyler Middle School for several years until her retirement. She enjoyed playing bingo and poker with her many friends. Lucy was fond of her trips to Atlantic City and Foxwoods. She was a longtime member and volunteer of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Joseph E. Zaloga Post in West Albany and was recently honored with the American Legion certificate of appreciation. Lucy was devoted to her family and truly enjoyed Sunday dinners with her loved ones. She loved to spend time with her three grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Lucy is the beloved wife of 59 years to Joseph Pizzemento. She is the devoted mother of Paula (Jim) Baldwin, Joseph ( Marianne) Pizzemento Jr., Gerald (Lisa) Pizzemento and the late Pamela Pizzemento. She is the cherished grandmother of Nicolas, Paige and Allie Pizzemento. Lucy is the sister of Ardenia Simmons, Jean Koehler and the late Alfred DeMizio. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 8:30 at Newcomer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to Historic St. Mary's Church on Capital Hill at 9:30 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
