COLONIE – Mary Elizabeth "Bonnie" Bucci, 82, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Patterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Fraser) Van Stone.
Bonnie was a kindergarten teacher for South Colonie Schools, retiring after 32 years. She was a member and secretary of both South Colonie Teachers' Association and South Colonie Retired Teachers. Bonnie also attended Roessleville Presbyterian Church. After retirement, she worked for Colonie Golf Course. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing, reading, bowling in a league at Spare Time, and doing crossword puzzles. Bonnie liked taking day trips to Saratoga Race Course and Racino, as well as Mohegan Sun. She cherished the time spent with friends and family.
Along with her parents, Bonnie was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Raymond G. Bucci, Sr., who she married on December 27, 1954.
She will be missed dearly by her children, James George Bucci, MD (Catherine E. Hylwa, MD) of Columbia, CT, Raymond G. Bucci, Jr. (Nancy) of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Jeanne E. Bucci of Colonie; grandchildren Colleen Snyder (Donald) and Brian Bucci; great grandchildren Danielle, Laura and Brandon Snyder; sister-in-law Elaine Bucci O'Keefe, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday at 4:00 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Memorial calling hours will precede the service from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Colonie Dollars for Scholars, Inc., PO Box 12413, Albany, NY 12212-2413 and/or Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in Bonnie's name.
