M. Helen Hines

M. Helen Hines, passed away Wednesday February 24, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn.

Helen was born January 18, 1923 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Gates) Swim. She graduated from the Holy Names Academy and attended St. Josephs College of Maryland. Helen was a secretary and bookkeeper for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. and a longtime member and Eucharistic minister at Christ the King Church. She was predeceased by her husband Charles E. Hines, Jr. in 1987.

She is survived by her nephews: Richard (Lynn) Swim, Keith (Dawn) Swim and Christopher Swim; grandnieces and grandnephews: Bryan, Stacey, Brandon, Amber, Michael, Ashley and Justin Swim; three great-grandnieces; stepchildren: Margaret Hines Knox and Carol Hines Coleman of Slingerlands, Robert E. Hines (Sharon Snyder) of Glens Falls, Mary Elizabeth Hines Friedricks (David) of Albany; stepdaughter-in-law Adelaide Moloney of Slingerlands; step grandchildren: Wendy, Lynne and Alan Furbeck, Gerald and Robert Coleman, Kim Hines, Lisa Hines Wilder (Lloyd) and Stephen Cosenke (Kelly). She is also survived by close friends Madeline and Al Girard and many other friends at Heritage Village.

In addition to her husband, Helen was predeceased by her brother John W. Swim, nephew Bruce Swim, stepson Charles E. Hines III; and step grandchildren: Charles, Jeffrey and Scott Hines.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 8:45am from New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) then to Christ the King Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am. Calling hours will be Friday 4:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
