SCHENECTADY- Mabel Clara (Sipperley) Hackel passed away peacefully on September 13, 2017 at the age of 96, at the Schenectady Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation.
Mabel was born in Peekskill,NY on May 21, 1921, and was married to her beloved husband, Ernest Max Hackel, together they enjoyed 73 wonderful years of marriage.
Mabel was employed by the SUNY Research Foundation for many years and also was a phone operator for a Doctor's Switchboard Service. Mabel enjoyed modeling at the Seniors Clubhouse in Springhill, Fl. and served as their secretary. She also enjoyed crocheting and needle point in her spare time. Mabel would take bus trips to casino's with her girlfriends to play BINGO and the slot machines.
She was predeceased by her husband Ernest, her parents Kenneth and Bertha Sipperley of Delmar, NY, brother-in-law, Robert Hackel; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Burns.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Garver (Glenn) of Land of Lakes, Fl., and Sandy Ward (Grant) of Rotterdam; several grandchilren, Mark Lavenia (Ryann) of Cape Coral Fl., Michelle (Norman) Violette of Clifton Park; Brian (Jessica) French of Colonie; Stacy(Randy) Burckhard, of Latham and Kevin (Michelle) French of Westerlo; great-grandchildren, Blake, Brady and Beckett Lavenia, of Cape Coral Fl., Nichoas, Nathan and Meghan Violette, of Clifton Park, Alex (Chris) Anderson of Troy, Taylor, Ava and Rylee French of Colonie, Mathew and Emma Burckhard of Latham and Marina French of Westerlo; her sister, Elaine Stevens of New Port Richie, Fl. and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, Sept 18, 2017 from 4-5pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A service to celebrate Mabel's life will begin at 5pm.
Mabel will be interred along with her beloved husband Ernest on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at 11:00am at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
