Madeline E. Sand

COLONIE – Madeline E. Sand, 80, passed away at her home on Monday, January 13, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wilmington, NY and raised by her late grandparents, Halsey and Edith Jaques. Madeline was a graduate of Ausable Forks High School and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and worked in the operating room at Memorial Hospital and Child's Hospital. She retired from University Heights Nursing Home as a nursing supervisor. Madeline enjoyed flowers, gardening and doing crossword puzzles. She loved all animals, especially dogs.


Madeline was the beloved wife of the late Harold "Pep" Sand until his passing in 2002. She is the devoted mother of Susan Garufi, Lori Sand and Thomas (Stephanie) Sand. Madeline is the cherished grandmother of Andy, Ryan and Katie.


Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
