Maggie Lee Graham went home peacefully in her sleep to be with the Lord and savior on May 27th, 2020 at the age of 97.
Maggie Graham AKA "Grandma Peggy" was born Maggie Lee Dawson in 1923 in North Carolina, to Van Hazel Whitley where she spent her childhood.
In 1941 at age 21 she married late Navy Sailor Isiah Graham. Through the early 1940s the couple would have two daughters Willie Gray Quattlebaum and Frances Hector, and by the late 1940s Maggie and her husband then moved to Washington DC for a short period before moving to Albany NY, where the family would then settle and live while raising their two daughters.
Over the yrs Maggie would work steadily! then in 1979 one of her daughters Frances Hector would suddenly pass away leaving 5 kids, Maggie then stepped up and took custody of all 5 of her grandkids, loving and raising them all together under one roof while putting her life on hold & devoting herself to her grandkids.
It was during these times people would grow to know Maggie as "Grandma Peggy", the lady who was raising all of her grandkids respectfully. People loved her and everyone who came in her presence respected and trusted her. Many neighborhood kids along with family would always gather at her house.
In Maggie's spare time she loved dancing and for many yrs she was a true Gardener growing all her own vegetables/flowers, canning foods, cooking, baking, going fishing, having cookouts at the park, crossword puzzle books and chewing her beechnut tobacco everyday, She also loved her automobiles.
Maggie was a selfless person taking care of others all the time, it was just in her nature, she spent half her life doing so if you needed her she was there to help you.
Maggie leaves to cherish in her memory her grandkids: Lillian Harvey, Shawn Hector, the late Donna Thomas, Alanzo Jones, Marlene Minter, Romona Hector, and Patrick Hector, Robin Quattlebaum, the late Maxine Quattlebaum and Selena Graham, numerous great grandkids and more great great grandkids, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and other family.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
Blessings to you all
