ALBANY – On December 7, 2005, the Lord called his angel Deaconess Mamie Redmon to join his heavenly choir in eternity. Born June 28, 1931 in Twin City, GA, she was the daughter of the late James and Nettie Conner. She was a faithful member of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church choir, Deaconess Board, church food pantry and Saturday Surprise Club for the youth for many years. Mamie is best known for her cooking and nurturing and her wonderful personality and smile. She will be truly missed by all. Mamie was the faithful loving soulmate to Deacon Ralph Redmon for 53 wonderful years. Mamie is survived by her children, Gregory Dansler Redmon of Washington, DC, Leonard "Lenny" Redmon and Jacqueline "Jackie" Redmon of Albany and Celestine "Tina" Redmon of Charleston, SC and her adopted children, Cheryl Callahan of Laurel, MD, Linda Dorsey of Rensselaer and Rhotochia (Terrance) Atkins-Jones of Brooklyn. She is the sister of Ella Conner of Washington, DC. Also surviving are her grandchildren, DeShawn Redmon and Antoinette Redmon of Albany, Rosetta Danielle Redmon of District Heights, MD, Turquoise Turner, Darnell Adams, RayShawn Redmon, Dorjee Redmon and Elizabeth Redmon, all of Albany; great-grandmother of Shakir Redmon, Aasiyah Bell, Taj-Elisha Thompson and Paige Lewis, all of Albany and Antoine Bailey of District Heights, MD. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren, cousins, family and friends also survive. Mamie was predeceased by her son, Christopher Redmon, her great-granddaughter, Savoja Thompson, her brother, Robert Conner and her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Wilson-Diggs.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 at the church. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
