ALBANY – Marcel J. Gagnon, 79, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Marcel was born in Limoges, Ontario the son of late Albert and Marguerite (LaCroix) Gagnon.
Marcel was born and educated in Ontario, Canada before moving to the state of Vermont. After serving in the United States Army, he relocated to the Albany area, where he worked for Freihofer's for several years. Marcel also spent over 20 years with the Teamsters 294, specifically working with PennYan Express. In his free time he enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada by car, skiing, and gardening.
Marcel is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Karlene (Thompson), his daughters; Kathryn (Frank) Blaine, Theresa (Patrick) Murphy, Tammy (Robert) Stalker, and Karen Gagnon (Dan Lutz); a son; Marcel Kevin Joseph (Marcie) Gagnon; siblings; Gerald (Jane) Gagnon, Rheal Gagnon, and Gilles (Ruth) Gagnon; grandchildren; Jennifer (Michael) Agioviasitis, Laura Stalker, Patrick Murphy, Karen Murphy, Shane Stalker, Rachel Blaine, Jesse Lutz, Michelle Gagnon, and Marcel Jason Gagnon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by two siblings; Pierrette Hadden and Jean Gagnon.
Memorial calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Lincoln, with a reception following at the Burnham Hall 52 East Street, Lincoln, VT.
