Albany- Marcello Capobianco, 63, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on June 20, 2018 in Albany. Born on December 16, 1954 in Sora, Italy, he was the son of the late Giulio and Antionetta (Grossi) Capobianco.
With his family, Marcello immigrated to Schenectady, New York in March of 1966. He was a lifelong resident of the Capital District, residing in Schenectady, Rexford, Rotterdam, and finally in Albany. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and attended Schenectady Community College. Marcello was a master Body Mechanic who perfected his trade for over 47 years.
Marcello enjoyed gardening, cooking, and was a lover of animals. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his husband and long-time partner of 27 years, Gregory Barrett; his siblings: Maurizio (Joann), Carlo (Mary Lou) and Giuseppe (Colleen); many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family. He is also survived by his feline family: Zazu, Tetna, Furball and Polystyrene.
In addition to his parents, Marcello was predeceased by his in-laws, James and Helen Barrett.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, June 27, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marcello's name to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
