On December 21, 2015 Marcus D. Malone died peacefully and was reunited with Jocelyn, his wife of 51 years. He was 88 years old.
The son of the late John G. and Olga (Dirolf) Malone, Marc was born January 15, 1927, in Albany, NY. Marc served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. On June 19, 1954, he married the love of his life, Jocelyn Abraham of Plattsburgh, NY.
Along with raising their five children, Marc was a die-hard NY Yankees and Giants fan. He played several sports including softball and bowling. His doubles tennis matches with his identical twin, Al, were legendary.
Marc's love of sports was only surpassed by his love of his children. He coached them and many of their friends over the years, both on and off the field. As a father, Marc's patience and loving guidance were ceaseless. His time and tenderness were never in short supply.
Marc retired after 33 years with the SUNY Central Administration in 1995. He then began a volunteer career as an Albany Airport Ambassador. His smiling demeanor and desire to help people were a perfect fit as he calmed nervous travelers and crying babies alike. Marc always showed great respect for military personnel passing through, although that respect fell short for travelers wearing Red Sox gear.
Marc was a kind, loving, and humorous man. He could always make you laugh, whether mugging for the camera or making jokes. More than anything, Marc will be remembered for his incredible ability to always find the good in others. A wonderful husband, father, and grandfather - he will be greatly missed.
Marc is survived by his loving children: son Mark and his wife, Karen, of Niskayuna, NY, Michael and his wife, Gail, of Colonie, NY, son Jim of Chicago, IL, daughter Patty Malone Kircher of Queensbury, NY, and daughter Jeanie, of Saratoga Springs, NY. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Eric and his wife, Ashley Malone, Zach Malone, Michael, Chelsea, and MacKenzie Malone, Madison and Bailey Malone Kircher, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 27 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to a mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Saint Claire in Colonie, NY. Internment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marc's name to Community Maternity Services, 27 North Main Avenue, Albany, NY 12203.
