LATHAM – Margaret A. McMahon, 81, died peacefully on Saturday, August 18, 2012 after a long illness. Born in Watervliet, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Warner) Kelly and sister of the late James W. Kelly.
Peggy graduated from Catholic Central High School. She retired from the New York State Assembly in 1996 after thirty years of service. During her retirement years, she enjoyed family vacations to Block Island, RI. Though she loved to travel, nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandson, Brendan during summer break. She cherished her role as a grandmother.
Peggy is the beloved mother of Sharon McMahon, Patrick McMahon and Timothy McMahon and his wife, Tina and her cherished grandson, Brendan McMahon, all of Latham. Peggy was a devoted Mom who showed courage, strength, compassion and kindness, qualities her children will always remember.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of Margaret A. McMahon.
