WATERVLIET, NY – Margaret A. Scully, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 08, 2011 at the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Troy and lived in Watervliet for most of her life. Marge attended St. Francis School and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. She worked for Montgomery Ward in Menands for many years and more recently, for the Albany County Board of Elections from where she retired. Marge belonged to the Hardly Ables Canasta Club for over twenty five years and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #729 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed being outside in the sun and reading. Marge was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Scully for 58 years until his passing in 1999. She is the devoted mother of Robert G. (Jerry) Scully and his wife, Shirley of Plattsburgh, Kathleen DiFabio and her husband, Joseph of Troy, Paul (Pete) Scully and his wife, Leslie and Margie Scully and her husband, Bill Crucetti, all of Watervliet. Marge is the cherished grandmother of Kerry (John) Halstead, David Scully, J.R. DiFabio, Jessica (George Moglia) DiFabio, Peter DiFabio, Richard Scully, and Jennifer (Billy) Dugan. She is the loving great-grandmother of Shelby and Shane Dugan, Jaiden Scully and Elliott Moglia. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and her special niece, Pat Quigley Rider. Marge was predeceased by her brothers, Leo and Bill Hayes and her sisters, Mary Hayes and Gertrude Quigley.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. from Cummings Funeral Home, 643 Third Ave., Watervliet then to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (formerly St. Brigid's) at 11:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
