Watervliet – Margaret D. Assini, 90, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2016, surrounded by loving family members.
Margaret was born in Waterloo, New York on May 8, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Carmela Bonacci. Upon graduating from high school, Margaret was employed at the First National Bank in Waterloo, which led to her meeting her beloved husband of 63 years, Joseph Assini, Jr.
Margaret was a dedicated mother and homemaker for her three children, Robert (Ann Gillin) Assini, Honorable John (Rebecca) Assini, and Judith (Kenneth) Chappell. She later went on to work at Siena College, retiring in 1991.
During her retirement years, Margaret enjoyed traveling, bowling, cross country skiing and going on long walks with her husband, children and grandchildren at the Crossings in Colonie.
In addition to her beloved husband and children, Margaret is survived by her loving grandchildren, Katelyn and Joseph Chappell, Richard, Arianna and Austin Assini and Jaclyn Moreno. She is also survived by her sister, Teresa (Michael) Leone and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and Frank (Mary) Bonacci.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Margaret D. Assini.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
