Margaret A. Breen

April 4, 1938 — March 22, 2023

Margaret A. Breen, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, with her loving family by her side. Margaret was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence Miller.

Margaret is survived by her four children and many grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Mary Miller and by her former husband, John Breen.

Margaret was a graduate of SUNY Oswego and later earned her Masters degree from College of New Rochelle.

Peg was a lifelong educator. Her career involved all phases of education, having taught, tutored, spent time in early childhood development and finally retiring after many years in adult education. She also took time for what she considered her most important job, raising her family, a job that she did well.

Margaret enjoyed spending summers at the house in Lake Vanare and on the boat in Lake George. She always had food and drink ready, for the many family and friends, who came to spend some time at the lake. She was the model of consistency and hospitality, always ready and willing to entertain. Peggy also loved the beach, a good book and a sunny day were all she needed. She and her family travelled the entire east coast, from Maine to Florida, in search of the best beaches. Later in life, she took her search global, traveling the world with friends. Margaret was always looking for a place to walk in the sand and dip her toes in the water.

Even in retirement, Margaret did not sit still. She would think nothing of getting in the car and driving to all ends of the state, just to take a friend to lunch.

Margaret stayed very involved her church, helping where she could and attending Mass several times a week. She also kept busy volunteering for several local organizations.

A horrible disease may have taken her mind, but it did not take her heart and soul. It may have robbed her of her memory, but it did not steal the memories that we cherish. Our mom was a strong, faithful person. She lived life, and entered into eternal peace on her own terms, where she will continue to serve God.

A private funeral Mass will be held at St Mary's Crescent Church.
