Margaret E. Stuart

COLONIE, NY – Margaret (Shirley) Stuart, 87, of Albany, died peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Hillsdale, NY and raised in Chatham, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Bertha Shirley. Peggy lived most of her adult life in Albany. She graduated from Mildred Elley Business School and during World War II she worked for the Department of the Navy. Peggy married and had a family and in 1987 retired from Lewis Equipment Company in Albany. She was an avid baseball fan and a "people watcher." Her grandchildren brought her much joy. Peggy is survived by two sons, Gregory (Barbara Guthrie) Stuart of Schenectady and William Stuart of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Stephanie Stuart and Seth Stuart, both of Schenectady and Ian Stuart of San Diego, CA; two great-grandchildren, Haley Elston and Kyler Elston, both of Schenectady. In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her loving husband William Stuart and her daughter, Shirley Stuart.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Graveside services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Hillsdale Rural Cemetery, Hillsdale, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY, Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Margaret E. Stuart.
