Margaret J. Montesano

COLONIE, NY – Margaret J. Montesano, 83, of Colonie, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2008, after a long illness. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Foley. Mrs. Montesano was a resident of Colonie for most of her life. She worked for the New York State Dept. of Health for many years. Margaret was a founding member of M.E.D.I.C.O. in Colonie, an EMT with the West Albany Fire Dept., 50 year life member of the Fuller Road Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Italian American Community Center and a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church. Mrs. Montesano enjoyed singing with the Ecumenical Choir and St. Francis de Sales Choir. Margaret was the beloved wife of the late George A. Montesano, Sr. She is the devoted mother of Joseph W. (Freda) Montesano, Elaine (Wayne) Dragon, Rosemary (Thomas) Giaquinto, Janice (Raymond) Riccardi, Kathi (Jeffery) Montesano-Ostrander, George (Nancy) Montesano, Jr., David Montesano and Mary Anne (Jimmy Fontanez) Montesano. Margaret is the cherished grandmother of Traci, Chiari, Christopher, Timothy, Anthony, Rose Marie, Jeff, Scott, Michelle, Wayne, Diane, Thomas, Angela, Gina, Kathleen, Kathi, Jo Ann, Daniel, Cassie, Zoee, James, Luke, Lynn, Jenna, Matthew, Mark and Jesse. She is the adoring great-grandmother of Alicia, Dakota, Savannah, David, Chris, Alexis, Lydia, Anthony, Ciera, William, Zachary, Kayla, Reigha, Donatella, Madison, Wyatt, Gabriel, Ireland, Dominic, Skylar and Brandon. Margaret is the sister of Elaine (Richard) Hoogkamp and Joan Goodman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, Loudonville. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. At the request of the family, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home, 85 Bloomingrove Dr., Troy, NY 12180 in memory of Margaret J. Montesano.
