Margaret "Nyesha" Kelley, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at her home in Albany, NY with her loving family by her side.
Margaret was the only child of the late Arthur and Lucille (Harris) Havener of N. Wilkesboro, NC.
For 24 years she was a dedicated employee at K&W Cafeteria in Winston-Salem, NC. She held the position as a Checker when she retired last summer. Affectionately referred to as "Mom" by her work associates, Nyesha was very fond of her K&W family.
Nyesha enjoyed painting ceramic figures and decorating her front yard, winning numerous Home & Garden awards when she was a military wife. She had a kind, fun loving, and charismatic spirit, extending many acts of kindness to friends in need and those who were less fortunate.
She worshipped at the Community Mosque of Winston-Salem, the Masjid Al-Muminun Mosque of Winston-Salem, and the Antioch Christian Church of Winston-Salem.
A devoted and loving mother and Nana, Nyesha is survived by her children, Sandra (Keith) Rhodes of Albany, Caldwell Kelley, Jr. of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Elisa Longuil of Dover, NH.
Nyesha cherished her grandchildren Marques Rhodes, Simone, Jordan, and Trey Longuil. She also leaves behind her dear friend and ex-husband, Caldwell Kelley of Dover, NH, beloved sister-in-law, Claudette (Bill) Denny of Ossining, NY, nephews Tom Smith of Winston-Salem, Bill and Stephen Denny of Ossining, and a host of cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was blessed with special sister/daughter friends - Barbara Harris, Mary Brim, Martha Triplett, Maxine Smith, Veronica Hasan, Sharron Carter, and Lalesia Johnson. Their companionship and support meant the world to Nyesha and her family.
A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, April 21st at 1 PM at the Denny Grove AME Zion Church, 600 Church St, Wilkesboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
