GUILDERLAND – Margaret M. Wilcox, 90, died on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at St. Peter's Hospital.
She was born in Knox Township, PA and was the daughter of the late Lewis Vaughn and Janet Mills Merrifield. She was first employed as a secretary at Oliver Tailors in York, PA and later at First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, PA. She was predeceased by her brothers, George W., Thomas, Bruce, Kirby and James Merrifield. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Charles Wesley Wilcox in 1998. Before they moved to Guilderland in 1991 to live with their daughter Nancy and her husband Stephen H. Clarke, they lived in Lancaster, PA where they had been members of First United Methodist Church for 53 years.
Margaret was a woman of strong faith and caring heart, an active member of McKownville United Methodist Church in Guilderland.
Survivors in addition to her daughter and son-in-law include her grandchildren, Catherine L. (David) Wells of Hamden, CT and Stephen W. (Melissa) Clarke of Gloversville, NY and two great granddaughters, Ellington and Taylor; a sister-in-law, Jane Merrifield of York, PA; a cousin, Thomas Mills of York, PA and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 19th at 2:00 p.m. at McKownville United Methodist Church. A calling hour will precede the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. A reception will immediately follow the memorial service at the church. Interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
