Al's loving memories January 22, 2011

If just before I was born I was given the chance to design my mother,
I never could have designed the mother I ended up with. She was the most understanding, caring and loving mother any one could ask for. If you knew her, you loved her and she loved you too. She could bring sunlight to a cloudy day. Every day was special to her and she would make it special for you too. Maybe it would be something she would say or do. Or maybe she bought something for you that gave her a happy feeling about you when she saw it. She loved life.

And her birds meant so much to her. She especially loved Chickadees, Hummingbirds, Hawks and Eagles. She would be the first one up in the morning and regardless of the weather would go outside to feed her birds. She loved to hold a handful of sunflower seeds and enjoyed the Chickadees that ate from her hand. Animals too, from Chipmunks to Bunnies to Deer, she loved them all.

The outdoors was much enjoyed too. Camping, riding horses, going for a drive in the car or out in a boat. She was happy doing anything. I remember as kids, Barbara & I would pick blueberries when camping and Ma would make us blueberry pancakes for breakfast. And she would have a pot of soup cooking for those cool damp evenings on Saranac Lake.

Ma was a great cook. I always wondered how I was able to stay so thin. She didn't cook because she had to; she cooked because she loved to. Everything she made was delicious. And she would make extra so she could give me some to take home. We all had special birthday meals that she would make for us. Mine was Lasagna. And my cake, a chocolate layer cake with chocolate whipped cream frosting and melted semi-sweet chocolate drizzled all over it. Are you hungry yet? I'll really miss her cooking.

That's not entirely true, I'll miss her and everything about her. She was so special. I love you Ma, I'll love you forever.
