Schenectady- Margaret "Peggy" L. Pecoraro, 97, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2022 at the Teresian House, Albany, NY.
She was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Tearno. Peggy was a lifelong resident of Schenectady and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She was a bookkeeper by trade, working at the Hotel Van Curler and retired as a Treasurer from the Schenectady School District.
She was a communicant of St. Luke's Catholic Church and was involved with the Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends, gardening and cooking and baking. Family was very important to her and she loved hosting and attending holiday gatherings over the years.
Peggy embraced any opportunity to travel, especially Arizona and California to spend time with her family members and see the sights. She also enjoyed bus trips to various casinos. One of her favorite pastimes was hopping in the car for a "Sunday Drive". Her great grandchildren, Alara and Dalya Crisafulli, affectionately referred to her as "GG Peggy" and they always brought a smile to her face. She was predeceased by her husband Gaetano Pecoraro and her sister Elizabeth Wilsey, as well as Harold Woodworth, her longtime companion.
Peggy is survived by her daughters: Carole Sweeton (Richard) and Denise Crisafulli (Frank) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 11am to 12:30pm At New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie, NY 12205. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1pm at, St. Luke's Catholic Church, 1231 State Street, Schenectady, NY. Interment will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
