Margaret "Peggy" McDermott, 87, passed away peacefully, Friday May 1, 2009 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center.

Peggy was born and raised in Manhattan, which always held a special place in her heart. She was the daughter of the late William and Bridget (Hogan) McNamara. Peggy moved to Greenlawn, Long Island and lived there most of her life until relocating to the Capital District several years ago to be near her daughter. She worked for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles on Long Island, enjoyed travel with her family, and loved to sing "Danny Boy". She married the love her life John L. McDermott January 19, 1952. John predeceased her in 1996.

She is the loving mother of: Richard (Cathy) McDermott of Derwood, MD, John McDermott of Inverness, FL and Mary (Jim) Lozano of Guilderland, NY. Cherished Nana of: Katie and Ian McDermott, Christopher (C.J), Kasey and Mackenzie Lozano. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her siblings: Thomas McNamara, Catherine McGinley and William McNamara.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:00am from the Brueggemann Funeral Home, 522 Larkfield Rd., East Northport, NY then to St. Francis of Assisi Church, East Northport, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am. Calling hours will be Thursday 5:00 to 8:00 at Brueggemann Funeral Home. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
