Margaret Radosti

May 18, 1947 — April 13, 2021

Margaret Radosti, 73, passed away peacefully on April 13th, 2021 in the comfort of her own home in Mechanicville, NY.

Margaret was born in the town of Ennis in Ireland to Patrick and Sarah Markham onMay 18th, 1947. She immigrated to America from Ireland as a child. She went to high school at St. Barnabus in the Bronx, NY and went on to earn a two-year Associates degree in Liberal Arts. Margaret and Stephen Radosti married in 1972 and had their beautiful son, Jesse, before getting divorced. Although no longer a couple, Steve and Margaret developed a nice friendship later in life.

Margaret always talked fondly of her charming home in New Rochelle, NY before moving to Ossining, NY and eventually to Mechanicville, NY to live with her son, daughter in-law, grandson and the family dog, Finn. Margaret, an avid life long gardener, loved spending time with her son Jesse gardening and planting. The two together created a world class garden of beautiful flowers and vegetables in their backyard which was admired by all that got to sit in the garden with her.

Margaret worked in the woven fabrics industry for a division of Ralph Lauren for many years where she met many co-workers and friends before finally taking a well deserved retirement.

She enjoyed music, parties, dancing, attending concerts, cooking, relaxing in her garden, going to estate sales and spending time with her friends and family.

Margaret is survived by her by son, Jesse Radosti of Mechanicville, NY and her daughter in-law, Kiley Radosti and grandson, Declen Radosti of whom she affectionately called him "baby doll". She is also survived by her brother Noel Markham, sister in-law, Donna Markham, and nephew David Markham, as well as her brother Patrick Markham, sister in-law , Joan Markham, her nieces, Sarah and Erin Markham and her cousins Brida, Sheamus, Keiran, Mary and Jerry.

She also leaves a legacy of many friends of whom she treasured; Blanca Del Moral and Rusty Steininger, MaryJane Tooker, Sandy and Ron Prior, Henry Kok, Joe and Sue Ellen Wightman, Suzie Day, Bill and Mary Anne, Nancy Fort, Jay Mody, Divya Karup, Wanda, Amy, Penny, Linda, and many, many more. Margaret was blessed with the sacredness of having a handful of truly life-long friends, family really, who hopefully know just how much they meant to her all these years.

Margaret was an integral part of her daughter in-law's family as well and loved by many including Karen and Bob Scheyer, Jill and Ryan Osterhout, Darcy Scheyer, Lorna Weekes, Chuck and Dale Farrar, Andrea and Steven Morrison, Lindsay and Julia Farrar, Christina Farrar, Marguerite Scheyer, Alfred Scheyer, Sheila and Steve Osterhout and Mason Osterhout who will miss his beloved "Aunt Margaret".

Margaret had a kind, generous heart and was a free spirit who lived each day to the fullest. She had a style and a way about her that was all her own and she told it how she sees it (in her New York City accent) which is part of her charm and what we all loved about her. She was a great cook and her famous pinwheels were requested at each family holiday, her Irish Soda bread at St Patrick's Day and her Shepherd's pie anytime she was willing to make it. She liked flamingos, eclectic jewelry, photography, loved key lime pie and anything tropical. Margaret loved a good party and many of her friends and family can attest first-hand that she was known for throwing some legendary Halloween parties in her younger years. She had a fine eye and a passion for estate sale treasures and took joy in showing her son, her daughter in-law and her grandson a love for the same.

Of all the things Margaret loved, Margaret loved her son Jesse and her grandson more than anything. She talked so proudly about them both to her friends and family. Margaret also had a very close relationship with her daughter in-law Kiley who was the daughter she never had. They had a friendship and a bond that is rare.

In her last days, Margaret spent her time exactly as she wanted it. She talked with friends, visited with family and relaxed in her garden and on her upstairs porch listening to the birds with the sun on her face. She had a long, full life doing what she loved. For those who knew her well, there will never be anyone quite like Margaret. Her presence will be missed, but certainly not forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital or The New York Botanical Garden whose work Margaret always admired and supported.

Condolences and shared memories may be left in Margaret's online guestbook at www.newcomeralbany.com/obituaries. Instead of funeral services, Margaret's wish was to have a party to celebrate her life and memory. When it is safe to do so, Jesse and Kiley will reach out to her close friends and family to honor her wish.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to The Community Hospice, New Comer Funeral Home, NurseCore, The VNA of Albany, Albany Medical Center, Women's Cancer Care Associates, NYOH, EverHome Care Advisors, The Mayo Clinic, The Hope Lodge, Pierro, Connor and Strauss LLC and the many friends and family that have known and loved Margaret.

Farewell, My Friend
By Kiley Radosti

I will hold you in my heart, my friend,
I'll keep you there to stay,
I will think of you quite often, my friend,
In the warmth of a sunny day.
I'll know that you're at peace, my friend,
And blessed that I have known,
The joy and light that's you, my friend,
For my heart has surely grown.
