ALBANY – Sano, Margaret L. (Spagnolo), 83, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016, at the Eddy Village Green at Beverwyck. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Tomasso and Rose Spagnolo.
Margaret graduated from Cathedral Academy in Albany and as a young woman worked at the New York Telephone Company. Later, while raising a family, she was the financial officer for A.B. Sano and Son and was active in the Rosary Society at the former Holy Cross Church. She selflessly gave of her time, always helping family, friends and neighbors, providing food, transportation, and companionship.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Benjamin of 62 years; her sisters, Edith, Thomasine, Antoinette, Emily and a brother, Francis. Survivors include her children, Rosanne (John) McFarland; Robert (Ruth) Sano; Jeannine (Peter) Scavullo; William (Deborah) Sano; Paul (Christine) Sano; and Stephen (Victoria) Sano; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her sister, Ann Hawk; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Clark and Rita Bennett.
Calling hours will be at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road in Colonie, on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 4 -7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany(behind CVS), on Friday, February 26, 2016, at 9 a.m.; burial at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
