Albany- Margaret M. Sickles "Peg", 75, passed away at home on Friday, December 18, 2020. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late James L. and Jean Sickles.
Margaret attended Vincentian Institute in Albany before attending St. Rose where she received a bachelors in Social Studies.
She then received her master's in biblical studies at Providence College and another master's in bioethics at Union College. Peg also took public administration courses at NYU that she was very proud of. During her working career, she spent 33 years as a nun in the Sisters of Mercy. She also worked at the Catholic School Office in the Diocese of Albany in many capacities. Peg worked for a year in mission services at St. Peter's Hospital. Her final employment was spent as a guidance counselor for 15 years at Christian Brothers Academy before her retirement. She also taught various grades of religious education. A major accomplishment in her life was the publication of her book, "Confessions of a Fumbling Believer."
Peg is survived by her brother, James T. Sickles (Deborah) and her nephew James N. Sickles (Lisa).
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders , Capacity City Rescue Mission or splurge on a new book you have been wanting and think how much Peg would be happy you are reading.
The family wants her friends to realize how much she cherished your company and concern. She thrived discussing theology, social justice, politics, and education you walked away feeling you could solve all the world's problems.
