Margaret R. Sims

September 25, 1947 — March 5, 2024

Niskayuna -
Margaret R. Sims, 76, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024, surrounded by her children and loved ones. She was the daughter of the late Margaret R.(Murphy) and Edward C. Sims.

She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her great sense of humor and her generosity of spirit. She embodied acceptance and loved everyone with an open heart and zero judgment.

Foremost in her life and love were her children and family. Her unconditional love and support knew no boundaries. Any sacrifices she made were more than willing and without hesitation.

Margaret has always conquered every obstacle in her way. During her experience with this progressive disease and cancer battles, she remained her all-loving and happy self even when her physical and mental capabilities failed her. Her amazing strength, resilience and unconditional love can be attributed to her deep faith and unwavering loyalty to our Lord as she continued in her promise as a Apostle of the Resurrection.

Margaret is survived by her siblings; William (Robin), Kathleen Sims and Christine (Tom) Dittus; Beloved children Thomas Jr. (Kathy), Tamara Marcucci and Theresa (Vincent) Puorto; cherished grandmother of Marina, Michael, Emma, Nicolo and Seraphina Marcucci; Great-grandmother (GG) to Kylie and Connor Dalton. Dear aunt to William, Jason (Kelley), Jessica Sims and Cruise Dittus; grand aunt to Darien, Baileigh and Dorian Sims. Margaret is also survived by Thomas Marcucci Sr., father to her children and longtime companion and friend.

Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of the many prayers, visits and sympathetic words through these last months. A special thanks to Danielle Dwyer and Kimberly (Lyons) Rogers (her first babies), as well as her goddaughter Marcy Dwyer for their constant caring and support throughout.

We are also very grateful to Dr. Duncan Savage, Dr. Dennis Rassias, RNs Erin Berghela and Cathy Renna for their personal attention and care throughout her illnesses, as well as the Community Hospice nurses during Mag's final weeks.
