Margaret E. Wiener

January 17, 1956 — February 20, 2022

SCHENECTADY — Margaret (Yaya) E. Priola/Wiener passed away on February 20, 2022, in her Delanson, NY home following a short fight with Endometrial cancer, after suffering from Frontotemporal Dementia during the last 2 years of her life. Marge passed away peacefully with her husband Donald by her side, at the age of 66 years. Marge was born in Elmhurst (Queens), NY on January 17, 1956, to her parents Dolores and Joseph Priola and had a sister JoAnn. Marge met her husband at an early age and they were married in 1976 following a long courtship which allowed them to graduate college before tying the knot. She lived in Wantagh, NY for 30 years with her family before moving upstate to the Delanson area in 2011 to be with her children (who all graduated from the University at Albany) and grandchildren.

Marge was a Registered Nurse who loved working with new mothers and babies at Booth Memorial and Syosset Hospitals. After having three wonderful children of her own, Corin, Nicole and Stephen, she went back to school to pursue her dream of becoming a Midwife. She completed her Nurse-Midwife program in 1993 and started a Midwifery career at Northshore hospitals on Long Island as well as in a private practice with Dr. David Eisler. During her 27 years as a Midwife, her passion for her career and desire to help and care for women drove her, and she assisted in the delivery of over 1,250 babies.

Upon moving to the Albany area in 2011 she started working at Saint Peter's Hospital in OB/GYN at the downtown clinic until she retired in 2020. To her friends and coworkers, she was the Rock, Queen Bee and Chief Yaya to the sisterhood. She was truly loved and cherished by all her friends and family; she was a mother figure and mentor to so many and was someone everyone went to for personal and medical advice and information. Margaret loved to travel in the USA and Caribbean, Aruba being her most favorite destination where she would vacation with family and friends, spending three weeks out of every year for over 20 years. Her true and most heartfelt love, however, was the love she had for her grandchildren, Cassidy and Gabriel. They brought her immense happiness and a renewed youthful spirt and were the reason she relocated to Albany. It brought her great joy to spend time with and to spoil her grandkids and they enjoyed every minute of their time spent together; to see her with them brought happiness to everyone around her. Family was of the utmost importance to Marge and to her everyone was family, the lives of so many have been touched by this amazing woman and her lose will be felt by many.

Marge was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima RC Church in Delanson and ran their Food Pantry with other friends taking care of those less fortunate. Donations in her honor can be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration as well as to the Family Promise of the Capital Region or to your local Humane Society or ASPCA. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Hospice personnel, especially to Maggie who helped in her final days.

There will be a open Memorial Service at the Sheraton Melville Hotel located at 333 South Service Road, Plainview NY, on April 9, 2022, from 2 – 5 PM for friends and family to pay their respects.
