Margaret York

Margaret V. York, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital with her loving family by her side. Margaret graduated from Troy High School in 1967. She was formerly employed as a clerk for New York State Department of Tax and Finance, from which she retired after 30 years.

Margaret was the daughter of the late Roland and Mable (Bennett) Johnson. She was a devoted wife to John York; married for 32 years. Margaret was a member and a communicant of Fifth Avenue AME Zion Church. She enjoyed spending time with her entire family and loved cooking for them.

Margaret is survived by her husband John York, four children Kimberly Hall – Carrington (Sultan), Robert Hall (Stacy), Derrick Austin and Tara White; six sister-in-laws Barbara Johnson, Joan Johnson, Lizzie York, Dolorous York, Loretta York and Caroline (Benjamin) Blanks; one brother-in-law Sam York; six grandchildren Dominique Hall, Madison Hall, Emily Fitch (Fred), Alexa Carrington, Shalamar Austin, Lillie Austin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Margaret was predeceased by her siblings Barbara Johnson, William Johnson and Dalton Johnson.

Calling hours will be held at Fifth Avenue AME Zion Church, 189 5th Ave, Troy, NY 12180, on Monday April 29, 2024 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Association.

Repast and fellowship8 will take place at Fifth Avenue AME Zion Church – 189 5th Avenue Troy, NY 12180 immediately after services
