Marguerite M. Gilligan

COLONIE- Marguerite M. Sazynski Gilligan, 61, of Colonie, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2008 at her residence after a long illness. She was born in Albany and is the daughter of Anne McGahay Sazynski and the late Edward Sazynski. Marge was a 1964 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy.
Marguerite had worked for Dunn & Bradstreet as a Senior Analyst and was four time recipient of the Presidential Citation. She had also worked for the New York State Employee Retirement System. Marge enjoyed traveling, quilting, reading, classical music. She traveled internationally extensively with her husband and close friends with a special interest in Egypt. Marge was an avid continental culture enthusiast.
She is the beloved wife of 43 years of Joseph A. Gilligan Sr. She is the devoted mother of Joseph A. Gilligan Jr. (Scherry), Shawn Gilligan and Andrew Gilligan. She is the sister of Marianne Fisher, Edward Sazynski and the late Helen Hickey. Grandmother of Adam Fazzone and Andrew Gilligan Jr. Cousin of Patricia Mogul Garhartt and Olivia Mogul. She is the beloved special friend of Theresa Flynn, Janice Heeran, Mark Klein and many other devoted friends and coworkers. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday evening at 7:00 at Newcomer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
