Maria Menegaki

SCHENECTADY, NY – Maria Menegaki, 92, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Vagionia, Crete, Greece and lived there for all of her life. She recently moved to her daughter's home in Schenectady. Maria loved tending to her vegetable garden and enjoyed being outdoors. She crocheted numerous items for her church in Greece and for her family and friends. Maria was the wife of the late Constindino Menegaki. She is the beloved mother of Sofia (Thanasi) Karathanasis and the late Irene Giannopoulous. She is the cherished grandmother of Dino Tzambourakis, Maria Vourna and Kiki Karathanasis. She is the loving great-grandmother of Sonja, Thano and Petro Tzambourakis and Alex, George and Renata Vourna. She is the sister of George Houthetzanakis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday morning at 11:00 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 107 Clinton Street, Schenectady. Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt.155-south of Central Ave). A Trisagion Service will be held on Friday at 6:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Maria Menegaki.
