Maria Pia Silvestri

GUILDERLAND – Maria Pia Silvestri, 75 of Guilderland, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Maria was born on December 23, 1948 to Quirino and Gina (Cipriani) Cavone, the eldest of three daughters.
Maria was educated in Italy and emigrated to the United States at the age of 16 with her family. She met her future husband in 1971 and got married in 1972, sharing almost 52 years together. Maria worked at Albany Medical Center for 45 years, retiring in 2013.

Maria enjoyed gardening, shopping and cooking for her family, especially for the grandkids. They loved her meatballs.
She was predeceased by her brother in law, Peter Riley.

Maria is survived by her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Diane Silvestri Wade (Steven); her grandchildren, Ava, Nathan and Ella Wade; her sisters, Mary Riley and Paula Raiti (John) and many nieces and nephews.

Maria's family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses for the loving and compassionate care they gave to her.

Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024 at New Comer Cremations & funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at St. Madeline Sophie Church, 4500 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
