Maria Szewc

COLONIE – Maria Szewc, 85, of Colonie, passed away on Thursday morning at St. Peters Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Lezajsk, Poland and was the daughter of the late Michael and Barbara Mazurek.
Maria and her husband settled in Albany in 1950. She had worked for the former St. Joseph's School in Albany and at Tobin Packing Company for many years. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Szewc, her sisters, Elizabeth Majewski and Marcella Mazurek, her nephew Stephen Mazurek and her son in law, Terry M. Paigo.
Maria is the beloved mother of Barbara Paigo, Frank C. Szewc and the late Irene Rogers. She is the grandmother of Jeffrey Paigo and Ronald (Marlita) Paigo. Great grandmother of Michael Paigo. She is the aunt of Krzystof (Ela), Tom and Peter Mazurek.
Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 7 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday morning at 11:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Schenectady. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Maria Szewc.
