Marian Peterson, 82, left behind the pain and illness of this world and entered Heaven on Wednesday September 16, 2015 with her family by her side. Born in Schenectady and a graduate of Draper High School, Marian called many places home over the years - Rotterdam and Alcove.
Many will remember Marian as operator of the kitchen at the Annie Schaffer Senior Center.
Family was foremost in Marian's world and she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She cherished and loved them all greatly. She was a talented cook - she was the usual host of holiday dinners, and the more the merrier.
Marian cherished the memories of those who predeceased her husband, Richard, her sister, Karen Simek, her brother, Leo Jandreau Jr., her daughter, Louanne, as well as her parents Catherine and Leo Jandreau.
Marian had many interests and talents. Her quilts are works of art and cherished by many. Marian's green thumb went from vegetable garden to the orchid. She enjoyed travel and crisscrossed the country with Rich visiting their Family and friends. Marian will be remembered well by many friends, near and far.
Marian is survived by her children; Jeffrey (Rose) Peterson, Becky Peterson, Chris (Lauren) Peterson and her sister Rosanne Jandreau Tubbs (Michael). She is the cherished grandmother and great grandmother of many. She is also survived by her nephews; Rick and Tim Simek and other close nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends and her "adopted" daughter Kathy Gorman.
She will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to The Community Hospice 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 in Marian's memory.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar. Burial will be private.
