Latham- Marianne Scymanky, affectionately known as Nonnie, 95, entered into eternal life at her home surrounded by her loving family on March 4, 2017. Born in Fürstenwalde, Germany on July 11, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (Schramm) Janocha. Marianne married the love of her life, James H. Scymanky on September 24, 1941. He predeceased her in 2009 after 68 years wonderful years of marriage. Marianne was a lifelong hairdresser and original owner of Marianne's Hair Salon in Colonie.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Diane (Tom) Redmond, Christine Rinella, Barbara Scymanky and Marianne Scymanky-Bardin; grandchildren: James (Whitney) Rinella and Michael (Amber) Rinella; great-grandchildren Mykennan and Jamesyn Rinella; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marianne's family wishes to express their gratitude to Debby Saffan from Community Hospice, Bonnie Sim, Colleen Goyette, Wanda Bernardi, Donna Repicky, Judy Roush, Meghan Leddick, Mary Alice Kennedy, Lucy Peeney, Maria Wallace, Grace Miele, Michelle Beaulieu and Mary Sofia for their loving and compassionate care.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, March 9 at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, March 10 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham, NY. After Mass, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marianne's name to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110, Northeastern Association of the Blind, 301 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12203 or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204.
