Marianne S Weglinski, 73, died peacefully on April 1st, 2025, at her home in Schenectady, New York. She departed in the loving embrace of her siblings and her son.
Marianne was born in Herzogenaurach, Germany in 1951 to parents Stefan and Elisabeth Weglinski. She emigrated to the United States in 1957 and settled in Schenectady, where she lived for the entirety of her life. She attended and graduated from Linton High School in 1969. Marianne enjoyed a long career as an executive administrative assistant at Ellis Hospital for 45 years. She was a caring and dedicated member of the Ellis community where she made many friends that she maintained throughout her life. She also worked part-time at the Customer Service desk at the Albany Walmart, because for Marianne, one job was never enough. Additionally, Marianne spent many years volunteering her time in the service of the Schenectady Soccer Club, Proctor’s Theater, and the Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Mont Pleasant, where she was a lifelong parishioner. Throughout her life, she enjoyed the company of her friends and family, traveling, and spending time with her two granddaughters, Norah and Willa, who she loved more than anything. She was a self-proclaimed “control freak,” especially in the kitchen where she was an avid cook, who loved to feed others, always arriving to any occasion with dishes in hand. Marianne’s love and commitment to others was limitless, her strength without rival, and the world was made a better place because she was in it.
Marianne is predeceased by her father, Stefan. She is survived by her mother, Elisabeth. Her son Eric Esner, daughter-in-law Sarah Esner, and granddaughters, Norah and Willa. Siblings: Christine D’Amico (nephews Sam and Alex), Walter Weglinski and Michelle Dee (nieces Karina and Skyler), and Gary Weglinski (nephew Justin and niece Jolene).
Services will be held at Newcomer Cremations and Funerals on Monday, April 7th, from 1-3 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
