TROY - Marie Rita Cooper, 87, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Rita was born on January 5, 1930 in Troy and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Frances (Gatto) Casale. She was a homemaker and caregiver all of her life. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
Rita was the loving mother of Andrew C. (Rose) Cooper, Jeffrey Mark Cooper and the late James Scott Cooper; cherished grandmother to Sean (Alyssa) and Andrew (Lori) Cooper; adored great grandmother to Hayden, Brendan and Nolan; and sister of Janet Pontore, Katherine Gregaydis and Mary Sontz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her K-9 companion, Copper. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Frederick W. Cooper.
Call hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Troy.
