Marie D. Hallenbeck, 61, of Voorheesville, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, January 25, 2015, after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer.
Born in Rochester, NY on September 11, 1953, Marie was the daughter of Joseph and Antonetta (Fallone) DiBiase. She attended Arcadia High School in Greece, NY, earned her Bachelor's degree from SUNY at Geneseo and her Master's degree from the College of St. Rose, in Albany, NY. Marie worked as a teacher and in public relations at NYS Dept of Transportation for several years before ending her working career as a billing specialist for Greenman-Pedersen, Inc (GPI) in Albany, NY.
Marie was the loving and exceptional mother to her daughter, Lynn. She had an infectious laugh that could warm any heart and a beautiful smile that could brighten any room. Marie loved life, appreciated each day, and cherished any time she got to spend with her family and her dog, Bailey. She loved nature, especially flowers, and enjoyed spending the summers caring for the many beautiful gardens around her home. Marie loved to travel and particularly enjoyed the many trips she took with her daughter over the years. Additionally, Marie loved reading, baking, fishing, walking, and spending time at the family cottage on Lake Ontario.
Marie is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Richard H. Hallenbeck of Voorheesville, NY; her devoted daughter and best friend, Lynn (Kenneth) Hallenbeck of Voorheesville, NY; a stepson Richard (Rachel) Hallenbeck, Jr. of Queens, NY; her mother Antonetta DiBiase of Rochester, NY; two sisters, JoAnn (Mark) DiBiase of Canandaigua, NY and Deborah (James) McGrath of Pittsford, NY; two brothers, Joseph (Barbara) DiBiase of Gilbertsville, PA and Richard (Lynn) DiBiase of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law, Joanne (Steve) Lounsbury of Voorheesville, NY; brother-in-law, Amos (Deborah) Hallenbeck, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, Marie is survived by her cherished little dog, Bailey.
Marie is predeceased by her father, Joseph J. DiBiase; mother-in-law Viola S. Hallenbeck; and father-in-law Amos E. Hallenbeck.
Calling hours will be held at St. Matthew's Church, 25 Mountainview St, Voorheesville, NY 12186, on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 4 – 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at l0:00 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church. Burial will follow the Mass in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Albany.
