Niskayuna -Marie (Walsh) Dubick, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30, at the home of her daughter, Christine Dubick Stankavich.
Marie was born on Christmas Day in 1926 to the late Martha Minto Walsh and Edward Francis Walsh in Buffalo, NY.
She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Richard Maxwell Dubick; her siblings, Francis, Margaret, Edward, Jane (Spadaro), Thomas, Helen (Baumann), Patricia (Herman) and many cousins.
Marie, like her siblings, attended St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and school, then graduated from Bennett HS. She continued her education in Rochester and became a dental hygienist until her retirement in 1981.
After raising four children, Marie loved traveling to Europe, California, Hawaii, Australia, and Canada with her husband, cousins, and family members. She enjoyed excursions to Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and local casinos until she was 93 years old. She was an avid reader of books and newspapers and spent monthly social visits with her beloved female relatives at their "Cousins' Club" gatherings.
Marie's survivors are left to treasure her memory; her children are Christine (David) Stankavich, Mary Lou (James) Ahler, Susan Marie (Stephen) Bucholz, and Richard Edward, "Rocky," (Gina); her seven grandchildren, Matthew Steven Egnaczyk (Koren), Kevin Edward Egnaczyk (Olena), Katherine Moira (Gheorge Rotar), Laurel Marie Bucholz, Benjamin Stephen Bucholz, Grace Marie Dubick, Heather Ann Dubick, and three great grandchildren Sadie, Leo, and Lily. Marie is also survived by one brother, Dr. William Walsh, one cousin, Betsy Zimmerman, and 22 nieces and nephews.
Marie met Dick Dubick in 1948 at Rushford Lake and spent almost forty years at their cottage there which has become the center of the family. Her family will gather at the lake next spring to celebrate her life.
