ALBANY – Marie J. Kozel, 96, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Baptist Retirement Center in Scotia. Born in St. Brigide, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Delphis and Alma Racine. Marie grew up in Barton and Jericho, VT and resided in Albany for over 60 years. She was a seamstress for Boulevard Upholstery and Decorators Workroom before she became a self-employed seamstress. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and especially enjoyed dancing. Marie was the beloved wife of the late Vincent A. Kozel. She is the devoted mother of Vincent W. (Mary Lou) Kozel of Lake George, NY and William A. (Cynthia) Kozel of Rexford, NY. She is the sister of Gabrielle Kramer and the late Doris, Valeda, Eugene, George, Peter, Conrad, Rene and Lucien. Marie is the cherished grandmother of Peter J. Kozel, Debra J. (Glen) Nelson, Vincent J. Kozel, Richard W. (Phyllis) Kozel and Allison Kozel. She is the loving great-grandmother of Tara and Nicholas Nelson, Vincent and Zachary Kozel, Marisa Bulgaro, and Ryan and Brendan Kozel. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, Guilderland. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 to 12:00 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King School, 20 Sumpter Ave., Albany, NY 12203 in memory of Marie J. Kozel.
