Watervliet- On Sunday, June 17, 2018, Marie Sorensen Menaged died peacefully after an extended illness. Marie was born on July 15, 1931 to the late Richard and Margaret Napolitano Sr. She was a long time employee of Price Chopper Supermarket and was the store's unofficial mascot "Choppy the Clown", before her retirement. Marie was also the proprietor of BilMar Ceramics in the 1980's.
Marie will rest in eternal peace next to her beloved husband, William Sorensen Sr. She is survived by her children, Linda Goodson of Watervliet, Gary (Teresa) Mills of Latham, Jeanette (Jimmy) Gendron of South Carolina, William Sorensen Jr. of Latham, Richard Sorensen of Watervliet, Ned Sorensen (Deb Crowley) of Cohoes; and her sister Carol (Frank) Tecchio of Kansas. Marie is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie is preceded in death by her son Peter Triggiano and brother, Richard Napolitano Jr.
A celebration of Marie's life will take place, Friday, June 22, 2018 from 4:00pm-7:00pm with a short service taking place at 6:30pm with Rev. Nicholas TeBordo officiating. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects during this time at the United Church of Cohoes, 123 Mohawk St, Cohoes, New York.
Interment will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Marie's name can be made to the United Church of Cohoes.
