Marie A. Stack, 83, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009.
Marie was born in Albany, New York a daughter to the late Michael and Bridget (Daly) Stack and was a lifelong area resident. She worked for Freihofer's Bakery for 42 years as a cake decorator. Marie enjoyed her mini vacations with the Edwards family, loved to read, especially mystery novels, but her real passion was her family. She was like a second mother to all of her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her sister Joan (Anthony) Mirabile, several nieces and nephews, her dear friend Eileen Edwards, Eileen's daughter Janet Kaiser and the entire Edwards family. She was predeceased by brothers Edward, Henry and George Stack and sisters Katherine Macken and Elaine Noll.
The family would like to thank the Westchester Medical Center, especially the doctors and nurses of the Burn Unit. They would also like to thank the Heartwood Terrace Assisted Living Facility nurses and aides.
Funeral services will be held 8:15 am, Thursday from New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) then to Blessed Sacrament Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 am. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked those who wish to remember Marie to make a memorial contribution to Westchester Medical Center Foundation, 19 Bradhurst Ave., Suite 3060N, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
