Marilyn Lillian Yates Elhoff, died Monday August 24, 2009 at the Teresian House after a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn May 17, 1932, a daughter to Edna Mae (Schaffer) and Francis Edward Yates. She grew up on Long Island and graduated from Garden City High School ('51). Marilyn worked for Chase Manhattan Bank for 20 years, retiring as a Vice President. To her surprise, she retired to Albany to be with her family and worked at Macy's jewelry counter in Colonie Center and at Lenox in Latham, NY. She was always adventurous. She took flying lessons at Albany Airport. Marilyn loved camping and sports, especially hockey and baseball. She was an avid Mets, Islanders and River Rats fan. A kind soul and endless optimist, she lived a full and joyous life and will be greatly missed.
She was the beloved wife of Philip Louis Elhoff for 54 years, devoted mother and best friend to Diana Elhoff (Andy) Pinto, joyous grandmother to Michelle Marilyn and Daniel Christopher Pinto, adored friend of Lisa Pinto and Christine Gorman, loving sister to Francis (Frank) Yates, Jr. and Elaine Clay, dedicated Aunt to Christopher and Jonathan Clay, Faye Youngblood and Franklin Fogal. She is also survived by many other family members and friends.
