Marilyn "Joan" Melucci, 72, passed away Thursday January 1, 2009 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Joan was born in Albany the daughter of the late Harry and Ruth (Brooks) McDonough. She graduated from the Cathedral High School and was a lifelong area resident. She first worked for the New York Telephone Company and then the New York State Assembly for over twenty years as a phone operator at both. She cherished spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and loved spending her summers at Panther Lake. Joan was known for her strong will, big heart, and her gift of conversation, sharing her thoughts and wealth of knowledge to all of those in her life. She also enjoyed spending her retirement years taking trips to the casino, talking on the telephone, and perusing the internet.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of more than 49 years, Salvatore Melucci, her devoted children; Karen Davila (Rick Sole) and Steven Melucci, and her grandchildren; Christopher, Alexandra and Nicole. She is also survived by her sister Marion McDonough and her brother Harry McDonough and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral services will be held 8:30am Monday from New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) then to the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am followed by a 12:00 burial at Saratoga National Cemetery.
