Marilyn R. Neadle, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Facility with her loving family by her side. Marilyn was the daughter of the late Donald M. and Gertrude A. Robinson. She was the devoted wife of over 58 years to Bernard A. Neadle.
Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family and will be remembered as always happy to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made a practice of calling each of her family members on their birthday to sing her rendition of "A Happy Birthday to you". She always had a special connection with her grandkids as she had provided babysitting for each one at some point as they grew up.
Marilyn had a gift for playing the piano, accompanied by her husband on his banjo, and loved singing hymns, gospel songs, Broadway show tunes and Christmas carols. She held strong to her Christian values with daily devotional reading of the Bible, taking great care to re-write her favorite passages in her journals.
She was an early advocate of healthy eating and plied her children with "delicious" veggie burgers and apple pie topped with birdseed among other rare and unique recipes. She was not shy about trying other new activities as well and showed little fear: driving a snowmobile over drifts, using in-line skates, and riding a horse at the age of 72.
Marilyn had been raised on a farm in Altamont and shared many warm remembrances of her childhood there. Her experiences gave her the determination to provide a good home, with her husband Bernie, to all their children. She taught them to love, have strong beliefs, have humor, see the good in others, to pick yourself up when life knocks you down, be kind but be sassy when needed, and most of all to love your family and protect them.
Marilyn was dearly loved, will be deeply missed, and remembered forever.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn is pre-deceased by her siblings, Lawrence D. Robinson (infant), Marjorie E. McClarty, Millicent E. Tubbs and son-in-law, Gary L. Hayes.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Bernard A. Neadle of Albany, NY; her children, Sharon (Ed) Collins of Dunedin, FL; Brenda Hayes of Fort Collins, CO; Beth Ames of Delanson, NY; Anne (Bob) Luttrull of Spokane, WA; Art (Leveda) Neadle of Wautaga, TX; Laura Neadle of Schenectady, NY; and Cecelia (Steve) Baum of Delanson, NY. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as a grand-niece and a grand-nephew. She is further survived by a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law and additional nieces and nephews.
A graveside service at Saratoga National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Family and Child Service of Schenectady at www.familyandchildservice.com/donations .
The family wishes to thank the staff at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Facility for their kind and attentive care they gave Marilyn, especially in her final days.
