Youngstown, NY----Marilyn J. Pirastru, 85, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY.
Marilyn was born in Cohoes on September 23, 1932 to the late William F. and Mildred (Verkalas) Brown.
She was raised in Cohoes and graduated from Vincentian Institute and Mildred Elley. She is a retiree of the Niagara County Social Services.
Marilyn is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Louis J. Pirastru; her children: Donna Ross, David (Patricia) O'Hara, Dianne O'Hara and Daureen (Michael) Mallamaci. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Christina (Eric) Rosen, Patricia (Brian) Kidder, Courtney (Andy Daniel) O'Hara, Samantha O'Hara, Amanda O'Hara, Nathan Schultz, Samuel Mallamaci, Anna Mallamaci and Evan Schultz; three great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Marie Pirastru and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her sister, Patricia (Brown) Whitney.
Marilyn was a devout member of St. Bernard's Church in Youngstown, NY. She was a former member of the Altar Rosary Society and St. Francis Guild.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love, prayers and support provided by family and friends throughout Marilyn's illness. The family would also like to express their appreciation for the compassion and care provided by the Niagara County Hospice, St. Peter's Community Hospice and the staff at the Community Hospice Inn.
In honor of Marilyn's wishes there will be no services. A Memorial Mass will be held on a date to be announced.
